Upper Triples to Allow Fitment of KYB SSS Forks

Postby twowheels » Mon Mar 24, 2014 8:34 am

The wait is almost over! After a successful tuning run with the KYB SSS forks on a 250 2T we're making chips and will have upper triples available for both the 2Ts (20mm offset) and 4Ts (23mm offset) in the very near future.

For those wishing to run the Beta front wheel and brake as a direct bolt-on we are also working on wheel spacers and caliper hangers.

That's exciting news! Are you saying all you need is the upper triple to accomodate the SSS forks?

You also indicate that you will need wheel spacers and caliper hanger to accomodate the Beta wheel and caliper. Will a stock Yamaha wheel and spacers bolt right up then?

The stock Yamaha wheel/axle/caliper assembly bolts right up - you may or may not have to use the YZ caliper hanger to use the Beta caliper ... I don't remember. The rotor diameter difference between the Beta and Yamaha are accounted for either in the length of arms on the fork lug or by the caliper hanger bracket. When I was prototyping it I just ran the Yamaha master cylinder, line, and caliper assembly.

That makes it quite interesting as I do have spare Yamaha wheels, caliper/brake line/master (running a Honda front brake setup on my YZ). I'll have to see how I feel about the stock forks once they are broken in. I do have fork envy when I see pictures of the racing editions with those Zokes...
