48mm Sachs fork wear rings

Postby Hawkeye » Thu Jan 09, 2014 1:55 pm

Does anyone know if these would fit the 48mm Sach's fork in terms of outer tube ID, and slider ID? If not the Marzocchi, then would the KYB units be a close fit?

Thanks in advance.

I have a set on order, I'll measure them up when they get here.

I have my 48 Zokes apart so I measured the lower end:

Largest dia - 64mm
Length of largest dia - 11.5mm
Next Largest dia - 62.6mm
Length of next largest dia - 13mm

I have a pic but you can't add native iOS file sizes here.

Hope this answers your questions.

Edit: Found a simple resizer app, Here is the end of the Zoke. I ignored the wear ring groove.

Those mud scrapers for the WP fork do not work on the Sachs fork.

The KYB ones will fit ok as the 2011 oc forks I have put on my 300rr have the same wire wear rings as the Sachs.

One thing to note though. According to the info that comes with the scrapers, they are only for use in heavy mud and wet conditions and are not intended for everyday use. Yes, I was surprised too.
Mine are now in my tool box waiting for winter.....

I've used them wet and dry, but no ride is completely dry. I just remove and clean under them after a wash. No problems. That green polymer is tough stuff, not a scratch on it from the fork guards. Les at LTR tells me that SKF wear rings without the scraper lip are coming soon.

That's good to know. I went to my local Yamaha dealer to get wear rings off a wr250f for my kyb forks but they were $40 each!

Exactly!!
The ones for WP 48 are different than the ones for almost all the other brands/makes.
Check below SKF part number and applications.

It should be mentioned that they should be used when the ride is wet/muddy, otherwise SKF recommends to remove them.
