Obielink link guard

Postby hawaiidirtrider » Thu Nov 13, 2014 2:08 am

I put these on my Beta and just rode it once but through a lot of mud and rocky riverbed.. It works pretty good and it's cheap compared to other choices. I'll see how well it lasts but so far it looks like it is pretty durable. The link stays pretty clean in addition to the protection.. nice..

..you can barely see it here at around 56 sec.. for one..

+1. I have one as well. 21 hours on the bike and it's still there..

One thing though, it can pack a lot of mud between itself and engine guard. Have to take it off the bike for cleaning.

I couldn't get mine to sit flat. I have an early prototype so maybe they've changed

It provides a sliding surface but impact is still going into the rocker/clevis through the plastic, correct? Can you connect the rear edge somehow so it follows the swingarm?

I hooked my linkage on a log for the first time Tuesday afternoon, twice! And on the same log. Just perfect size with the exact wrong approach and bam!

Of course you did ... because you were riding Tuesday afternoon     Was it the new one that fell on Bobbit's loop or a different diabolical section you set up?

We do have a healthy selection. The one giving me a hard time was over in the neighbor's to the east.

I hit mine every time out, and now hit the Fastway guard every time out. Logs slide but rocks bite, I'm wondering if that Obie guard will get torn off in a good pinch.

I ve hit few rocks with Obie already.

Impact definitely transmits to the linkage, but plastic does absorb some and it slides over easy.

OK, come spring I'll take you on my stuff and we can have a linkage guard shootout! The bottom of my Fastway looks like a cheese grater now. My brother was looking for one of those for his Husky TXC, I think there is a universal that you can bolt to any skid plate.
