from http://slavensracing.com/shop/xtreme-link-skid-for-beta-250-500-by-slavens/

Fits: 2010 -15 ALL RR & RS 250/300/350/400/450/498/500/520 Nice price - $89.95 :D

"This unique new concept in protection guards the shock clevis and shock linkage from rock damage and enables the linkage to glide over logs and boulders. Without the Slavens Link Skid, the shock clevis will catch on logs and stop the bike or throw the rider forward. Because the clevis and linkage extends well below the swingarm, it is very susceptible to expensive damage. The Slavens Xtreme Link Skid is for those that ride rocky conditions and demand the best coverage possible. The new loop design bottom plate gives added protection and durability."

that's a lot cheaper than the fastway unit. but seems like it hangs down lower than it needs to be

Apples to oranges ... Betas to KTMs ... you need to see the Fastway on a Beta before deciding which one is lower. The KTM linkage leaves the lower shock clevis way down there ...

Having the Fastway, they look close at the lowest point. Being the Slavens guard is multiple parts and needs the lower rear cross brace it remains lower toward the rear. I was one of the first ones to get the Fastway and its been torture tested. There is nothing to break or come loose. Better for sure, simple always is, but for a third the price this may be fine for most.

I have a lot of respect for Jeff Slavens but when he first came out with this design I thought it was a bit of Rube Goldberg setup.

Just sayin'

Are you saying the guard is what made the link crack. Either way that sucks.

Interesting pic... Actually all the choices are still good to me...The fastway.. which seems to be the best and of course very expensive..this scorpian/emperor racing// slavens style one.... the obielink.... and of course ..nothing at all.. Which is ok too. .. and from $300 plus... to paying nothing..

Perhaps. To me it looks like what happened is something (rock?) got between the guard and the large knuckle there at the upper left and probably broke both the guard and the link.
