The power delivery on this bike is different than any 300 I've ever owned and it has the most significant difference in power delivery when using the map switch of any bike I've ever ridden. The Wet position significantly retards the hit in higher rpms. Compared to my 19 300, the 22 makes more power in the mid range but is less snappy off the bottom and fades off earlier when wide open. I love the feel of the 22 but I'll have to get used to the engine characteristics.

I've added the NECJ needle (improvement) but haven't altered the stock jetting yet. The 22 also comes with the X-trainer left side power valve cover spacer and I prefer it removed right now.

I'm racing this thing and would really like to improve the throttle response off the bottom, suggestions welcome.

Air screw and pilot jet will have most impact on off idle response. You'll just need to test for your atmosphere. 35, 38 and maybe 40 pilots and air screw settings. Mine is so snappy it's almost too much, you gotta be ready. If you're really picky you'll need to adjust the air screw every ride, if not so picky just when there are significant temp/humidity changes.

I did this on my 2017, and 2022. It just allows broader adjustment of your idle mix so you don’t have to change your pilot as frequently. I used my 4mm chainsaw file, then polished it up with the dremel.

check the factory riders videos online, they will tell you what needle to use. smooths the bottom out and takes the hit out. Lot of fun to ride. Its a zj needle from memory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yKqwiRERT4

I'm also guessing you need to adjust jetting. The 22' 300RE I rode at the demo was a the opposite, seems to pull off the bottom, start to pull to the mid and then into a slug on top. I'm on my 6th 250 Beta and that's the first 300 Beta I've rode, was disappointed, but it looks like I need to ride one that set up better, really liked the suspension.

Adding the RK Tek Head gives you the best of both worlds.. Owning the 21 and the 22 300's, they are different in the power delivery. The 22 , with the stock head, can be lacking on the bottom end compared to the 21.
With the RK Tek head installed, this "gap" is very small between the 21 and 22..

The slide mod is also a good mod to perform. We also run the N8R series needle and use a big larger jets as well

Over all, the 22 is a great engine. As is the 21

Kels…what is the best head for the ‘22 300? Do you still offer the “power everywhere” insert where you increase cyl base gasket thickness? Just asking cause there is zero room between the top of the spark plug and frame. It’s almost like Beta did this on purpose to discourage head mods.

Being an owner of the 20, 21, and 22 Beta 300 RR, I have a fair amount of experience with this bike.

These engines works so good when properly jetted and fitted with the head, that I have never felt the need to adjust the port heights.. They run that good!

The 20 and newer engines Stock perform better than the older engines.

That is interesting, how did you came to this idea ? Is this something known to work ? Any downsides ?
