Replacement pipe 13/14 300 RR

Postby mtdirtbag » Fri Jan 31, 2014 8:58 am

Not that I need one, haven't even ridden mine as yet - but I'm curious. In searching for a good price on a P3 pipe protector I noticed on P3's site that they list two. When you click on each it describes it further, one with little description is most likely the stock pipe the second is stated to be for the Gnarly or Factory Fatty. So the obvious question are the two pipes delivering the same type of power and if not why does one protector fit both pipes; can anyone enlighten me?

I posted the same question on TT and part of the reason I'm curious is I did not care for the Gnarly power delivery on my YZ, but like the idea of a plated pipe for ease of care and of course the extra thickness on the Gnarly.

My Eline fits the stock pipe as good as the Gnarly that's on now. Not worth changing for the sake of change but when yours gets damaged the Gnarly is about half the cost of the factory one...

I agree, not a fan of the Gnarly pipe, and on a 300 its the last thing you need. Stock pipe is nice, big $$ though after it makes its way through the Beta parts system.

I didn't think I was going to like the Gnarly pipe but needed something. It doesn't feel that much different but does seem to fill the gap I find between 2nd and 3rd.

Maybe it's not a true low end pipe. I know some of the Gnarlys are the same as their Fatty, just made from 18ga steel. '03 GG was like that as I had both. FMF makes pipes from a parts bin of stampings, not all are true customs.

I think I read somewhere that the fatty and gnarly's are pretty much the same except the taper back to the stinger is different.
