No not at all. If anything some of the primary side cover bolts were a bit too tight. Some reports of sticky, slow return kick starters got me thinking, although mine was fine. Funny, every Italian bike I have ever worked on had its share of over tightened fasteners. Huskys, Ducati, Beta.

Mine dribbled a little after a couple of rides, but has since stopped.

They come over filled with oil and leak out the CS seal until the level is correct.

Jay is right, 850cc tops or it can leak from the CS. Maybe this causes the Pv cover leak too?

2nd ride on my 300. I have an oil leak in the same place. I figure I'll put another couple of hours on the original oil and then look into it.

Drop the oil and refill 850cc. The drain plug on the side has an oring so no problem with crush washer reuse. It will be interesting to see if these leaks are cured.

riding again tomorrow.. put gasket seal on the right PV cover... I think the PV oil (if that is it) is basically spooge that would go out the pipe ?

Its not spooge, (either from trans or exhaust). All you need is to tight the PV cover bolts, flange seal is an overkill.

Just an observation regarding trans oils.
If your trans oil has low hours and comes out black and used then maybe you should consider to try a new brand.
Last week Installed my Rekluse Core EXP on my bike and I used MOTUL TRANSOIL Expert 10w40 which I had sitting in the garage (not an open bottle).
After some 5-6 hours of use for some reason (not a problem - a deal gone bad) I had to remove it and the oil came out really black.

Normally I use NILS oils (not available in US - HRC runs them in MX1) and last year in my RR300 Racing I used their really special For Clutch TX, an oil developed together with trial companies for hard trials use. Before selling my bike (and with about 10hours of use with the EXP) I had to remove the EXP to keep it for my new bike and this oil came out almost like new (it still had most of the original blue color) so after putting back the std clutch I re-used it.

I was really impressed with this oil and really disappointed with the transoil expert (generally the EXPERT line lubricants are high quality).

An oil thread. :o

Rotella 5w-40w syn diesel oil, works perfect in the Beta trans. Comes out clean, good shifting, and very little clutch drag. This is important because our hare scrambles are dead engine in gear starts.
