Reed spacer

I noticed a reed spacer on my 2014 300RR. Looked on the parts diagram and noticed two different sizes of reed assembly bolts.25mm and 28mm. Just was wondering the purpose of this spacer. Probably for more torque I suspect.

Engines are, at the foundation of it, simply air pumps. In order to get the proper bottom end volume for the 300cc pump while using the same cases as a 250 a reed spacer is employed.

Good to know, I run a slightly longer carb than the pwk so I would think my longer venturi would accomplish the same thing.

The reed valve is what closes things off, so while the carb length affects intake tuning it doesn't factor in here.
