Spark arrestor

Postby drdfblackm » Mon Feb 12, 2018 5:57 pm

I am just purchasing a 2017 300rr and I know the can is not a USFS spark arrestor.....so what do you guys that want/need them do? Is there a can to just buy, is there an end that people use and doesn't kill the performance. Just looking for options.

Thanks.

Last thing you want is a ranger violating your pipe with a poker trying to find the arrestor. FMF has the regular or the shorty Q-Stealth. I have the regular length and don’t feel like it kills performance at all.

Just google it. SA pipes are available in lots of places. Ebay has lots of deals.

I’m running the FMF regular and didn’t notice any difference in power.

I just installed a Pro Circuit Type 296 only b/c you can get them on Amazon for $128 shipped. So far I've been very impressed but I've only got 1 ride on it... I think the FMF is better looking but who really cares........

I have a 2017 430 RR-S and I don't see anything stamped on the muffler indicating it has a spark arrestor, I thought the stock RR-S came with this? Can anyone confirm this? I found a sticker on the frame that say's it's EPA compliant but nothing about a spark arrestor.

Having a spark arrestor and being EPA compliant are different. One is making sure your bike doesn't start a fire in the woods, the other making sure your bike doesn't kill the planet (supposedly). Area dependent you'll need a spark arrestor to ride offroad. Not required for onroad riding. My 350's stock muffler did not have a spark arrestor from the factory. But that was in '15 and an RR model.

FMF Q-Stealth. Steve (TwoWheels) on this site sells them very reasonably.

Yea my 09 Beta came with a spark arrestor but I think no Beta came stock with one since. Stock pipe is pretty quiet though.

I must have read the specs for the 2018 rr-s the brochure on betas 2018 says spark arrestor muffler. So I m going to assume that's a new update for 2018 models.
