Want more torque

Postby redbone477 » Thu Apr 25, 2019 7:05 pm

Looking to get more low end pull (torque) from my 2013 300rr. What are the options available to accomplish this? I rode a 19 Sherco 300 today and I would estimate at least 15% more bottom end (torque) or more. I have a fresh topend in my bike so I know that’s not the issue. I’m a true Beta guy so I’m keeping my bike, just want to make it better!

If you don’t care about top speed, changing your sprockets is the cheapest.

Yea a smaller countershaft sprocket is probably the difference between the Sherco and your bike. That’s super simple and super cheap. Try that first. . As far as more low end you can go as simple as a powervalve spacer like the Xtrainer has too. There’s some conjecture on whether the gnarly pipe is the same or super close to a stock Beta 300 pipe. Maybe a gnarly is good and maybe the gnarly is just so close to to stock. I got more low end with my RK head. A cheaper way too is to give RK guys your stock head and have them cut it. I went the full RK head as I wanted the added volume of coolant to have the bike run cooler. Some go with an S3 head or other head mods. Maybe you could try a stock Xtrainer pipe. That has more low end on the bottom and it still winds out but it’s smoother and more mellow in the mid and top. You could investigate more at what different brands of pipes will do. I’m not sure how scalvini and Dep and Fresco and pro circuit among others work in comparison to stock. That’s all I hot off the top of my head for now. I had a 13’ 300 rr and now I have a 15’ 300 rr with an RK head now. I liked my 13 ‘ 300 rr and the torque it had. I think Id just go with lower gearing to start like said above. . Id bet that’s good enough to strart.

The PC pipe does give better pull of the bottom and right through mid on a 250 and about the same top as stock, not sure on the 300.

I do have a PV spacer I bought to try and never even open the package, make an offer if you want to go that way.

I don’t think they make tires to transmit that power to the ground.

I'm running a 2013 300RR cylinder and CDI on my bike. It was pretty lazy off the bottom before, but an RK Tek head woke it right up and gave me exactly what I was looking for.

No it doesn't. I ran the Xtrainer pipe on my 2017 300RR for a while- for about 100hrs. It certainly tames things down, but there is a noticeable loss in low-end grunt compared to the stock pipe. I would have to go up hard climbs 1 gear lower with the xtrainer pipe than I could while on the stock pipe.

I recently switched to the gnarly, and it really is a huge difference compared to the Xtrainer pipe. It has been so long since I rode with the stock pipe that I can't say what the difference is of the Gnarly vs the stock pipe (power-wise) .Gnarly is definitely more durable though. My bike sees a lot of abuse. The stock pipe was thoroughly thrashed in no time compared to how the gnarly is holding its shape.

+1, I had an XT pipe and liked the added control but didn’t feel like it added torque per se.

I got rid of the XT pipe due to how thin it was. Bent out of shape way too easy.

I have a 2020 300 RR/RE and I'm really disappointed with the bottom end power, compared to my 18 XT with a 300 RR pipe on it. Both bikes have/had a FMF Turbine Core 2.1 silencer. So Mods are the same, except the 2020 has a RK Tek head on it, a 13/49 gearing and its still too much, mid to top type power. I ride slower single track that's very rocky and hilly.

Has any one installed the FMF Gnarly for the same reason, to get more bottom? Did it help or correct the problem? Or am I just chasing a gost and need to change riding style? :?:
The only time you need he 2nd Amendment, is when someone comes to take I away!
