Xtrainer P3 Pipe Guard

Postby NWEricr » Mon Nov 18, 2019 4:36 pm

I just received a P3 pipe guard for a stock 2018 pipe. It doesn't seem to fit. When clamped at the 2 attachment points, the mid-point of the guard is about 1.5 inches away from the pipe. I looked at P3's website, and their pictures show the gap too. Has anyone else experienced this?

Parts Giant, where I ordered this from, won't pay for return shipping despite their "Fitment Guarantee."

I don't recall that issue with the P3 guard I installed on my stock 2016 XT pipe. I've since replaced the pipe with an FMF Gnarly and another P3 guard, and I don't have that issue with this combo either.

Below are a few shots from different angles showing the P3 on stock 2016 pipe from my photo archives. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply and the photos. It appears that your fit was better than mine, but still off near the final bend before the pipe went up in its expansion area. With much effort, I convinced the seller to take it back. I went to my local dealer today, Frank's, to buy an EE pipe guard. It fits perfectly. I know the P3's are great on FMF pipes. Just beware of the fit on stock Xtrainer pipes.
