2020 125RR/200RR Crank Seal Issues

Postby Hubert Carpet » Thu Feb 27, 2020 6:19 am

Has anyone experienced low running hours failures of crank seals or centre gaskets leading to the engine burning gearbox oil?

My 200RR has been very smoky since new and now has around 25 hours on it. I took it as just the usual jetting issues with new bikes and have spent many hours swapping jets and checking the OI system from end to end. All this time the problem has been getting slowly worse until I have now proved it's burning gearbox oil. I hadn't noticed the oil level dropping as I have changed the oil every couple of rides but now around 100 ml has gone in about 1 hour in the workshop. Most of that is now on my workshop wall!

I have heard a number of people say that the 2020 200s have lots of spooge and I'm starting to wonder if there is a wider problem. My bike is being fixed under warranty.

Have 22 hours on my 18' 125rr, stock jetting was way off. Other than the clutch cover/slave issue that was updated and breaking clutch fibers it's been fine.
