What is this mystery part in my oil??

I did oil change on my 2017 Xtrainer yesterday and this little part was attached to the magnetic plug. It looks like some sort of spring/clip. The bike works and runs fine. What is this thing and what does it do? Sorry I can’t attach a photo, this form only allows 512 kB? That’s lame.
