Hey all, I was riding the bike this weekend and the idle would hang and seemed to be running lean.

I am suspecting the left side crank seal.

I am gonna a do some tests to be sure.

If it is the left side crank seal, do I need to spilt the cases or can I do it after I take the left side mag cover and fly wheel off???

Thanks
Alex

First check airbox, filter, manifold for cracks or bad seal

Then clean out pilot jet. Dies odd things when blocked.

Thanks for the reply.
Those places I have already checked.

Is the left side crank seal able to be done by removing the mag cover and the fly wheel?

Other then the mag cover paper gasket and the left side crank seal is there any other orings or anything I should order?

Try spray some engine start around idling bike in different areas. If a spray up around the mag doesn't increase the revs then that seal is fine.

Crank seals are regularly blamed but quite reliable.

I had one do that after being in storage for a few months. It also tried to die when the enrichner was turned off. All I needed to do was close the mixture screw (air bleed) run it for a bit like that to clear the idle circuit. It's been fine for a year now. I think it just got dried up fuel residue or a bit of dirt that dissolved once used in the rich adjustment position.

I am going to ultra sonic clean the carb today and run some other tests.
And see what I can find
