Radiator Hose to Thermostat

Postby Josport48 » Mon Jan 29, 2024 1:28 pm

Just last week I bought a new 2023 250 RR. First time owning a Beta but I have heard a lot of good things about them. The first ride, it blew the radiator hose going from the right side radiator to the thermostat off and shot all of my coolant out on the ground. This was 20 minutes into the ride which was a bummer. The crimp style clamp was still on the hose and seemed like it didn’t get crimped from the factory. I’ve read on here that the 2 stroke betas usually run pretty cool. I guess I’m asking if anyone has experienced that before or if maybe I should get a radiator fan for the bike just incase it was actually crimped. I ride mostly gnarly single track.

If you blew a radiator hose on a brand-new bike. It was a factory defect of some sort. They have a warranty; I would get it fixed/inspected by the dealer to make sure it is not something more serious than just an improperly installed clamp. Two strokes will require a fan if you are doing a lot of slow technical riding. I put on one my 16 300 RE, and it only comes on during the heat of summer riding.

I'm on my 6th 250rr, and have left the thermo on all of them, and never used a fan on those or my 350re.

I'd contact the dealer, so they can look at it or at least document it in case it's an over heating issue.

300's tend to run warmer for some reason, maybe they ride slower, 250's when jetted correctly are tough to make steam.

Thanks everyone! I contacted the dealer and they are working with Beta. I think the clamp just failed, I filled it back up with coolant and installed a new clamp then proceeded to put 30 miles on it with no issues so it must have just been a fluke.
