Map on 350 for Engine Breaking

Postby foumo » Tue Jan 31, 2017 7:14 am

Hello fellow riders

Just loaded the map that is supposed to increase the engine breaking on a 350EFI.

The stages available were '0', '100', and '300'. Taking the fact that 0 was the standard setup I opted for the 300 to feel the difference.
What I have noticed was the engine breaking actually decreasing, as the change actually increased idle speed that minimizes engine breaking when closing the throttle. The result is the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do.

So, at '0', the bike is using the max engine breaking available. Anyone, please confirm if this is correct.

p.s The map was loaded at my local Beta dealer

thanks!

Yes, 0 is max engine braking. Tried 300 on my 430 and was to much in slow speed sections.

Which map is best for low speed throttle opening? My 16 350 rr is rather abrupt at low speed. ordering a G2 to calm it down and thinking about making a trip to the dealer, or a dealer to put the 17 map in as its supposed to be smoother? less braking? I don't mind the braking as I use that instead of the brakes.

Hi cruiser, love to hear how the 17 map goes. I have my 16 480 on max engine braking and a G2 throttle tamer and am happy with it. But if the 17 map is better then I will follow suit.
Cheers.

Not yet, I will be putting one in shortly. Same time I install the G2. The garage has been in the 20-30's so I don't spend much time in there as of late. Ordering a few parts this week so in the next couple weeks I'm going to ride snow or no snow.

I got the 16 Race edition with the map switch. The soft mode is very handy on uphill trails as it's power delivery is much smoother with less wheel spin and much better traction. The hard mode comes in on open roads and good traction conditions.

I am also interested as well on the 17 map, and if it is like an update from Beta that will improve the bike's overall behavior.
