350 Valve Clearances

Postby Marty Moose » Wed Dec 30, 2015 7:07 am

Well just checked my valves for the first time. Found one tight inlet on the RHS was just out, this is the second one I've heard of like this after low hours.
From what others have said about the life of these bikes I'd say this is a factory issue. Anyway reshimed it and will check again after another 10 hrs or so.

Has anyone else found this ??

I haven't checked my 430 yet but checked Chris's 500. I had to redshirt one intake but this was with 4000 miles on it.
Because the shims come in certain increments designed to allow the tech to set clearances within a given tolerance there will likely always be valves looser or tighter than the others. Normal wear has clearances going tighter over time so I wouldn't be overly concerned finding a valve too tight. I would be concerned if that same valve needs to be adjusted again at the next service.
