We changed one set at 100 hours and they looked fine. Just changed a set on a 400RR that has had a tough life of overheating in technical sections, and although the teeth looked fine, the interior hole on one had worn considerable allowing the gear a lot circular movement. I will add that the customer had gotten the bike hot enough at times that the clutch would slip totally, (oil pump gears run in the transmission oil) boiled clutch fluid, and broken oil sight glass in the engine cover, not to mention boiling over the radiators. Never blew a head gasket, and the motor still runs great.
Have read reports of bikes doing over 200 hours, depends on maintenance and how hard the bike is ridden.
You also have the option to put in the steel gears.
