They say there was no damage to the motor. I find this hard to believe, but I don't know these bikes at all. What do you all think? Is this an acceptable conclusion? What would be the ideal fix?

Thank you!

Hard to say as we are not there but I don't like the logic behind the diagnosis, will check my tensioner before I start my 350.

Sent Beta an e mail today expressing my concerns and they got back to me within the hour. A new motor would make my new bike a "salvage vehicle" in my state so they are shipping a brand new 500 to me! I am very impressed with the customer service from these guys. I should be out riding by this time next week!!!

Nice!
That's how it should be!
Any major drama in within the first few rides should result in replacement, nobody wants a brand new bike with engine taken apart and rebuild!

Wow, while that's the outcome every new owner would like to have, this is the first I've heard of the factory actually doing it. Well done Beta.

Just doing the PD on mine and there is a oil breather restriction in the pipe near the ignition cover. I'd be checking to see if this was removed on your bikes or if your market has this fitted for emissions. Its right near where the hose connects and is part of the PD process to be removed.

This just happened to my 2018 500 RR-S today! Sounds like the exact same thing. Engine oil all over the swingarm, dripping from the air filter box.
Who did you contact at Beta? Can you send me their email address? I couldn't be more pissed off. Tried to post photos from my camera but they were too big. Will try when I get home.
Ok. Here are some photos.

Yikes! That’s not good at all. Seems that if the damage is that severe in the head the entire engine should be replaced under warranty. It’s a brand new bike after all. At a minimum a full tear down and rebuild is needed. I would be very upset if this was my bike.
Good luck and keep us posted.
