'16 500RS and a Rekluse?

Postby motograndpa » Wed Oct 25, 2017 10:17 pm

I recently bought a new leftover 2016 500 RS. Most of the riding I'll be doing is in fairly tight woods. Lots of 1st and 2nd gear stuff. I've already dropped the countershaft sprocket and it still seems too tall.Has anyone tried a Rekluse on the 500 for this type of riding?

Thank you very much, Dan

of course, that's what it's made for. unless you're a racer where you need to modulate the clutch precisely, the rekluse is a wonderful mod for the average Joe just trail riding. Just a warning, It's like electric start, once you got it, it's hard to go back

I have a Rekluse on my KTM 525EXC and Beta 300RR. I also had one on my KTM 990! For the average rider, they are a tremendous aid to having fun. Never (very rarely) stalls, and perfect clutch application on hills and from stopped to rolling.

For the aspiring racer, they let you concentrate on choosing the right lines, maintaining correct body position and using proper throttle control because your brain isn't overly consumed by clutching.

For the real racer, well they won't be reading this so all I'll say is they are masters of the clutch lever with more skill and talent than I'll ever have...

I installed one today on a MY 2014 500. It is a CORE EXP 3.0, so with a complete new clutch basket.

Tried it on the very tight single track and it works lovely. Very slippery walled corners and I was dragging the rear brake. For the underground that was a bit too much and I felt the rear tyre sliding, stopping and slipping during engine braking and continuing rolling all in half a second. I couldn't have sensed that all so fast and properly reacted the same way. The tracks was infested with roots, but no accidents caused by them, you will just roll over, just like they are grippery rocks (not true).

I also tried it on the road. Very nice shifting, up and down, also with legal speeds and normal acceleration.

All together, with the ajustable slave, a very nice package. Very expensive, but worth it!
