2018 390 RR-S mileage fuel economy single track

Postby worstell » Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:51 pm

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 2018 390 RR-S. I see that the stock tank is only 2 gallons. Anyone know what type of mileage I can expect? I'd like a fuel range of at least 70 miles. I plan to run the 13 tooth sprocket, and will be riding tight technical single track.

Well you can just order the big tank just to be sure. I did with my 525.. I don’t go 70 miles though. Im going to put the stock tank back on as Im riding a lot less miles before getting to fuel again than you will.

I'm getting around 60-65 miles on the stock tank on my '17 390. I'm running the 13 tooth front sprocket.

I have 2 msr camp fuel bottles that I carry if I'm wanting to get more mileage.

You should fit the 3.1G tank so as not to worry.

Firffighter is spot on! I have a 16 390 that gets pretty much the same mileage. Sometimes 70 miles or so. I also carry two camp fuel bottles. Each bottle will get me about 10 miles.

I have an 18 390rr-s, and I ride tight technical trails in northern California with the 13 tooth. You can expect about 55-60 miles per tank riding at a normal pace.

How far can you get on reserve?

No reserve with EFI. The Low Fuel light is barely useable. The odometer & external fuel cans are your friend. Running EFI bikes to empty is bad idea & hard on fuel pumps & injectors. My dealer through in 3.1g tank at time of purchase. I did one ride with stock tank before installing bigger tank. Be aware, will likely get worse mileage before about 15-20 hours on motor.

My 2017 390 uses 5.5 l at 100 km (recreational trail riding). The reserve light go's on quick, and if stops running while there is jet a lot fuel in the thank, I think more then 2 liter, can I do something so I can use the rest of fuel ( to a minimum)?
