18 500 rr-s Horsepower

Postby adamsrk15 » Wed Aug 01, 2018 3:39 pm

I just put a deposit down on a 2018 500 rr-s. I know the 19 is almost available, but I got a good deal on the 18 and I am pretty excited. Anyway, does anyone know the horsepower and torque of the 500? I have searched for 5 weeks and it is nowhere to be found. Thanks in advance. I am converting it to a snowbike and just trying to get a starting point.

I had put a 2018 Camso DTS 129 kit on my 2017 500 RR-S and rode it all this past winter and the Beta is an awesome snowbike. I had no problem with power.

The one thing is that when it gets really cold, like 10-F and below, the battery needs help to get the motor started and with just hooking up the Weego JS12 pack to it, the bike will fire right up. The other thing is that I have found that one has to wait until the motor warms up to at least 150-F before the clutch oil will loosen up enough to allow the bike to be clicked into gear without the bike stalling from the clutch plates being stuck together and the engine stopping from the sudden dump into gear.

What might help me this upcoming winter will be the Rekluse Radius CX and its ability to keep the clutch disengaged at idle or even in gear. Just being able to find neutral at a stop with the engine running has been great with the Rekluse.

trying running thinner oil for winter usage as well. 0w-40, or something in that range. My 390 is a bitch to start in March when I have to impound it overnight and its close to or at freezing temps over night. the thinner oil made a HUGE difference. Fired right up and no penalties for missing my starting minute!!!
