I assume the valves have been checked at some point in those 146 hours? Since it started on the squirt of airostart, valves are likely fine. Since you also had spark at that point, I would think the tipover switch is probably fine, too. I am thinking that cuts ignition, but likely fuel too on tipover on FI bikes. You can easily verify if you lose spark when you dismount tipover switch and turn it over upside down.
The fuel check valve on the tank that your mate may be talking about is on cap vent system, likely not the problem at all. But there may be another fuel pressure check valve in fuel system. With key on, not cranking, fuel pumps come up to pressure and stop, then your fuel pressure check valve has to be working. I wonder if you can remove fuel injector, and test it for spray out of engine? When you checked spark, did you remove plug that is in engine, or just tested a spare plug without removing the plug in the engine?
