Stock Rings on 390 and Tool

Postby MoonBeamer » Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:34 pm

So I am in the process of just cleaning up my 390. It has 3017 Miles and 159 hours on it. Just bought it this year (2020) and it had 94 hours/1900 miles on it when I bought it.

So I took the valves and cylnder apart to clean it up. Don't think it requires anything new other than valve shims. But I was wondering what people like to use for a ring compressor?? I have seen a few different things on Amazon and Google. Do you like a clamp type compressor or the tapered ring ARP version?

So there is a large black patch on the skirts that is almost worn away.. Is this a wear indicator?

Also... here is the cylinder. It has a small score mark like this on both sides. I am thinking from the rings.. should I get a hone or just let it go?
