Engine oil in air filter

Postby Macker82 » Mon Jun 14, 2021 1:14 pm

I’m new to enduro bikes so if this is a silly question, I do apologise.

I have a 2021 390rr. Bought it brand new from the dealer and I’ve only been out on it for a few amateur rides, nothing technical.

I’ve done 2 oil and filter changes, the first was suggested by the dealer, the second was because I fell off the bike in a deep puddle and got water in the oil so had to flush it etc.

Anyway, I took the air filter out so I could wash the bike and I noticed the filter had a lot of the red engine/gear oil at the bottom of the filter. I thought it must of came up the blower pipe when I fell off the bike earlier that day. I washed the filter, re oiled it and fitted it back onto my bike. This was a few weeks ago and I’ve just went to remove the filter again to wash the bike, there’s more red oil? The bikes running fine, any suggestions what could be causing it?

Thanks

Is it possible that you overfilled the engine oil? How much excess oil in the airbox? If a little, you might have overfilled it. If it's a lot of oil, then you need to dig deeper.
