Maintenance .

Postby Blkflg » Thu Sep 23, 2021 8:16 am

I just put an order in for a ‘22 390 RR-S. I Downloaded the owners manual to get familiar with the bike.
I am really surprised at the maintenance requirements at 90 hours of use.
The manual shows these items should be replaced at 90 hours:
Countershaft & crankshaft bearings
Connecting rod
Piston
Gearbox bearing (crankcase side)
Water pump seals
Oil pump control gears

I have never owned a vehicle that needed this level of ‘maintenance’

Am I missing something or is this implying a complete engine rebuild after 90 hours of ‘normal’ use?

Don’t panic too much, it’s just Beta covering their ass
I wouldn’t expect that sort of maintenance for 2-3 x that
Enjoy your new bike

I’m at 90 hours of pretty easy riding on my 500 RR-S now and am debating if I need to do it. Everything works ok and valves were in spec at 60 hours. I already added the steel oil pump gears when I put in a Rekluse clutched 30 hours. They still looked brand new when I swapped them. I think I’m going to do a compression test and use that as a guide for the piston/rings maintenance.

I've got about 160 hours on my '19 500 RRS, adjusted valves around 50 hours.. replaced pump gears with steel when I fitted kick start. Oil changes (probably waay more often than needed), clean air filter (again, likely more often than necessary).

Runs great. I too was a bit worried about the maintenance schedule.. I think it's designed for racing conditions.....if I were flogging this thing hard all the time maybe a bit more maintenance is called for... my riding is pretty sedate by many standards.
