350RR

Postby Cruiser » Mon Jun 27, 2022 11:17 am

I have a few years on my 16 350rr. Thinking of pulling the engine this winter and doing top end go through cylinder head etc. Is there any power mods besides exhaust that others have done? I ride eastern Pa rocks. I'll be investing some money into the suspension this winter as well. Just don't have the money for a new bike but it has been a consideration. This bike works very well for my trails, mainly its shortcomings are mostly when I try to use it as a ds bike, I do ride 10 miles 45/55 zone from the house to the trails, and it runs a bit hot. I miss the grunt of my 04 450exc and the 525sx/exc this bike replaced. Also do not understand why they use drastically more fuel than a KTM/Husky 350. Have a riding buddy that does DS events with me who has a 16 350 husky and we top off fuel at the same time. I'll get 1.6 and he gets 1.2 or 1.3 and this pattern equates to he is getting more miles from his 2.5 tank than I get from my oversized 3.1 tank. I do have to note, his has zero mods and just basic service. Also the husky doesn't have the snap at lower speeds the beta does. Just curious what others have done, or experienced. and yes, I'm bored.. got covid and been watching YouTube for last 7 days..

I have the 21' 350re and it get's decent mileage for a 4t, never measured it but it's considerably better than any of my 2t's, with lowered floats.

I have a 2016 500RS with 3.1 tank. I carry 16-32oz of extra fuel on longer rides, and always use little more fuel than everyone I am riding with, no matter how much I try to save fuel. I quit trying to ride for mileage, and if I have to, will rob some fuel from their bikes to get to where we are going.
Small price to pay for all the things the bike does well to great! Not sure on the motor mods.

Thanks, Yeah I'm not super fuel concerned, just wasn't sure if it was common or just me. I only really notice due to having a ring buddy who does most of the events with me. always getting gas at same time and seeing how well his husky is on fuel compared to the beta. His kid picked up a beta 500rr-s, 2020-21? His seams to be same fuel consumption as mine, maybe a bit better. We did a 120 mile run for a DS up in north west Pa and all three of us using the same pump, mine seams the worst. It may be a result of twisting the right grip a bit harder than they do..
