2016 250RR Jetting Table Changes

Postby andoman » Sat Feb 06, 2016 8:56 pm

Has anyone noticed that the table for the 250 has changed for 2016?
The needle has gone a step richer and the main a step leaner in the middle of the table where I ride.

I have read here that the beta jetting table is accurate and I'm assuming that it is the older table that is being referred to.

There was some porting (and ignition too I think) work done for the 2016 250, but I'll check and see if they are still recommending the same jetting for the RR and the RE, accounting for the former's oil injection.

Thanks, Steve.
With the thin oil ratio that the OI is providing, it makes sense to run a step richer. But is the richer needle offset by the leaner main?
Where is Jakobi when you need him? :D
I have a selection of needles and jets and will get her dialed in short order. My question was mostly out of curiosity.

Fuel/Oil ratio will have nothing to do with it from a performance perspective. If your thinking making it a hair rich to run cooler or avoid problems in extreme conditions considering the oiling, perhaps it's just better to premix instead then and not sweat it.

Beta has just released the OI block-off kit, but I wonder if there's any harm in just letting the pump run dry? Maybe the lack of lubricating oil would kill it, or heat?

GMP, I'm with you on the oil ratio being moot from a performance standpoint.
I have a '16 Race without the OI, but the owners manual is for the RR and has no Race supplement.
In getting her set up I happened to notice that the Jetting Chart had changed from the 13-15 specs that folks have said were very accurate.
I was just curious if anyone knew why.
My guess is that Beta did exactly what you recommend against and came out with a richer jetting baseline to add a little margin due to the very low oil ratio (80-100:1?) that the OI system provides.

The chart was probably just refined after knowledge base development, and like Steve said there were some slight changes. It was very good but not perfect in some cases so I wouldn't over think it.

I would not let the pump run dry, not knowing for sure how it works. I'd unplug and remove it, and deal with the indicator as needed. Looks like they give you a new manifold in the kit, all you need is a secure block off of the port. A vacuum port cap from the auto parts store bonded on the fitting and some safety wire should be fine.

The original chart was very close with my `13 250rr setup at 32:1 with a gnarley, q4, and power valve nut flush. I have found turned in more than flush creates a rich off idle condition. Flush really cleans and smooths out the power.
