A lot of 300 riders are onto NECJ #3, 35p, 165m, a/s 1.5.

is it #3 from the top groove or from the bottom groove?

Normally the needle position is referenced from the top. I`ve just started riding my 16` 300rr and it`s blubbery down low. I`ve not checked but deduced from the internet it`s got 165 main, 38 pilot, N2ZW#2. I`m in the UK, it`s summer so 10-20 degrees. Do I drop the stock needle one clip or change the pilot from 38 to 35 and needle N2ZW to N2ZJ? These came as spares with the bike.

The jetting is correct as per my 2016 manual but different to manuals from earlier years- is this due the OI system?

I,ve decided to install the following for our hot-at-the-moment uk summer-
NECJ#3, 162m, 35p.
That means I,ll have the stock 165 and 38 for winter maybe together with a NECW.

What is your riding elevation? What is your current temp when you say "hot"?

I,ll be riding 300-1000m and temp. of. 60 to 70's f. Just a typical UK summer with the odd hot & humid day.
I fitted the NECJ#3, 35 pilot and 162 main. I then started it, sounded a bit lean and changed the pilot back to stock 38.
Waiting to test ride and will report back on the weekend.

When you change the pilot you need to adjust the air screw as well. If you just dropped the 35 in and didn't adjust the AS it probably didn't work very well.

Yes, I adjusted the air- screw and couldn,t get rid of a hanging idle and the bike needed throttle to start from warm. After more research, I,ve noted the 35 pilot was replaced with the 38 for the 2016 models. Is this the OI bikes needing a richer idle-circuit? I'm still running in the bike so thought rather be safe than run lean.

After a couple of rides I,m now happy with the Suzuki NECJ in the 3rd clip from the top, a 162 main and a 38 pilot with air-screw 1.5-2.5 turns out. Still a slight stumble off idle with a constant throttle and slight spooge but I don't want to run lean. I,ve got the power valve adjusted out to be flush with the case. I like it, I,m getting used to it more after so long on 4strokes. The economy is good, last tank I got 49 UK mpg which is just about 11 miles per litre. Very pleased.
