Keihin uphill pxxxsing contest

Postby bikesparky » Sun Oct 16, 2016 5:50 pm

Despite of having lowered the float level several times the Keihin carby on my 300 racing keeps dumping fuel out of the overflow and it stalls on very steep uphill climbs.
Stalls on downhills too unless keeping the throttle slightly open.
In general I know what I'm doing but I just want to know if this is normal?

Besides that the bike runs great!

Have you tried a new float needle? Is the float needle seat sparkling clean?

install a longer drain hose route this hose up and over the carb, then down to the skid plate area.
I did this and it stopped my over flowing.
I used model airplane silicone tubing, bought at local hobby store.
hope this helps.
Also I set my float a few degrees less then the book, so it closes off fuel sooner.

Yes, very clean. Every time I adjusted it I made sure it seals properly.
I used the blow trough a tube system so set the height, if it doesn't leak air it doesn't leak fuel.

Bad idea! All you do is preventing the excess fuel to leak out due to having to go uphill in the tube. Might as well block the overflow line up, same result...
