2017 300rr jetting necj

Postby Sully » Sat Jan 28, 2017 1:57 pm

Hi
I've got a 2017 300rr which I really like but just can't get the jetting right ,Always just to lean or rich
I read a lot of info about the Suzuki needle so tried necj 38 pj 168 MJ 2a/s which is really smooth but can sort out good idle (way to lean )
Any ideas ,jetting plans or advice please

If you are way too lean at idle try a 40 or 42 pilot.

Try setting the A/S to 1.5 turns out and see if that helps.

You might have to make a slight adjustment from there but only do so in 1/4 turns at a time

Dont forget the more turns out you bring the A/S the more air in the idle circuit or leaner at idle it gets !!

Air screw determines pilot not the other way around.

Sully,

I am UK based, Dorset, so essentially sea level. I have 2016 300RR totally stock, i.e. 168 main, 38 pilot and 1.5 turns on the air screw. I was running a bit rich but have now adjusted the float height to 7.5mm (6mm is stock) which has leaned it off a bit. Did a 3 hour H & H yesterday and it felt good - no more spooge on the silencer.

Probably need to add that it was incredably wet yesterday so it did not get rev'ed that hard, plus I am only at sportsman level so do not get it on the pipe very often which may explain why for me it was a bit rich.

Cheers

Paul

I have a 2017 300rr as well and I would follow the 2016 jetting chart and found it to be pretty good. I would usually just go one clip leaner than recommended on the chart and it ran great. I just recently bought the JD jet kit and it's amazing won't be going back to the chart.

Framerpaul
Think I best check my float level again to confirm height ,I'm Devon so not to far from you so settings should be very similar
Good to know the setting works in an enduro,my plan is to have a go myself this summer

Brysnors
Would you recommend I get the Jd kit ? I want to try and make the power delivery as smooth as possible

Thanks again for the advice

Re: 2017 300rr jetting (Stock is good so far)

I have the 2017 Beta 300RR with the stock Keihin PXK 36mm carb, it came from the factory with a N2ZW needle w/clip on 2nd ring, 165 Main jet, 38 pilot jet. I have been riding from 2500 feet to 7000 feet in Tucson AZ with winter temps about 55-70F. I have not had to change anything yet, the power band is so smooth and wide it is just not asking for me to tinker with the carb at all.
I know when the heat hits I will need to adjust, so I purchased a 35 pilot, a N2ZJ and N2ZK needle, and 162, 160, and 158 main jets for my tool kit. My first adjustment for the heat will be to change to the N2ZJ needle I can then easily drop the main jet as things get warmer. This Keihin carb runs good. I was surprised I didn't have to change out anything going up to 7000 ft. I'm very happy with the stock jetting for now, it's perfect for the Tucson winter from 2500 to 7000feet. I am still running a little oil in the gas while I learn to trust the oil injection, that leans the mixture a bit.
