Reeds

Postby Gibnut » Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:32 am

Hi all,

135hrs on the 300 & never checked the reeds. No reason to suspect any issue, but time to replace?

Also, is there any point searching for reed upgrade (V-Force 4) or just go stock?

When I freshened up my topend at 150hrs, my reeds were still good but you should check anyways, it's easy and then you'll know.

I had a problem with my Honda Red Rocket last year and it turned out to be the reeds (not sealing). Whilst researching the issue I came across a post by someone that said he replaced the reeds everytime he replaced his piston. I thought that was a bit excessive.

The moral of the story is: whilst you have the bike laid up check that they are ok.

Good luck.

Pulled the reed block - the air filter gods are smiling on me - the reeds looked brand new. Put them back in. :D

Does anyone know for certain if the KTM 300 reeds will fit the 300rr? I have a strong feeling they will but can’t find a cross reference to confirm. MotoTassinari doesn’t even list Beta on their website which I find odd.
