TPS removal 2017 250 Race

Postby jpgibson » Sun Jan 07, 2018 1:22 am

Anyone done it? Seems there's a kit ( ?) in the US with a blanking plate ( given the Beta US site has instructions). Not sure why it'd be on the non oil injection bikes unless it feeds info to the ECU regarding throttle pos and then timing adjustment ( which other 2T's have).

I'd only do it if it had no function as its a (tiny) fiddle to get it back in when fiddling with the needle.

Odd. My 2016 Race Edition does not have the TPS.

My race edition has it. Have not removed it yet but plan to. It really doesn't do anything otherwise without the injection. I will machine my own cap as Beta is waaay too proud of that little piece. Beta is proud of a lot of their parts.

So removing it keeps it in sun mode?

I just cut the wires off of mine and left it. A free fix.

And both maps still work fine.

If you cut the wires how can it work?

If you remove it the throttle feels a tiny bit lighter.

The RE does not use the TPS, it is not even hooked to anything.

I maps must not be TPS referenced. Because my 2016 RE came with a map switch, but did not come with a TPS on the carb.

So the map switch and TPS on the carb are not connected in any way? Learn something new everyday. Will have to dig further.
