So it looks like in my situation, the stock 35 pilot is the ticket with the NEDW needle.

This is a 250RR at 640m/2100' ASL, and - 3*C

That’s crazy. Are you back to true Keihin or Pro X jets? No more leaking Chinese brass?

Legit Keihin jets straight from Yamaha. The seem to fuel exactly the same, but at least that's one factor out of the way.

Ran the current setup at 55degF, same altitudes, and had a nice deep exhaust. Adjusted AS to 1.5 turns out. Putting 55degF down as a good point to switch to NEDW, keeping the 40pj and 172 mj in.

I’m running the 40 / 170 NEDW clip 3 AS 1.5 on my 250rr and it’s running great in the current 40-55 degree temps at 500-1500ft. Slightly on the rich side but I prefer it that way.

You get a chance to ride Walker recently? Went there on Friday for my first time. Pretty nice set up. Those off angle tiles with rebar sticking out made me a bit squeamish at first. Thought for sure I was going to shred a tire.

Haven’t been to Walker in a while! My suspension is just finishing up with Steve “twowheels” and I hope to be back out next weekend or the following. Walker is a great place if you know your way around. And yes I hate those cement tiles to!

So I kind of did too many things at once, but it's obvious float height affects jetting pretty good.

I did put in the RK Tek head, but while I was at it, I pulled the carb and checked the float. The float was at about 6-6.5mm so I bumped it up only about 1mm. But since I was putting in the new head, I wanted to make sure I was rich and not lean. So I left the 38 pilot (that kept fouling plugs), but put the needle back to clip 3, and put a 170 main in.

The bike runs great and might be a 'tiny' bit lean on the bottom. It sounds completely different (deeper) with the new head though. So going by sound now is a bit more difficult too.

Very cool. Any before and after compression digits?
With regards to changing the float height and jetting, not trying to argue, but it made sense to me that some saw the increased mileage per tank as “the bike running a bit more lean” instead of “not dumping fuel”. Honestly, I can’t see how a 1mm decrease in head pressure can noticeably affect jetting...especially with gasoline. If the float change was extremely dramatic, to where it was sucking more than just gas off the bottom of the bowl...then ok, sure it will. But I’m just a hack and am open to a better explanation.

Yeah, I almost want to put the stock head back on just to see how much of the difference was the float change.

My cranking compression on the stock head, was just shy of 180psi, and now it's 200psi on the nose. So I definitely want to be overfueling vs under with those types of numbers.
