Another fouled plug?? What plug is it? When I first got my bike, the dealer gave me the wrong premix for the race ed (710). I checked my plug a couple times after the break in and she was nasty even tho I was so lean that my exhaust o-rings got fried. What is your power valve set at?

I'm running the BR8ES. Maybe I will try the BR7ES hotter plug. The bike runs fantastic, but just fouls plug on initial warm up. It does drool bad enough that it drips on the caliper though. I choke it for maybe 10 seconds and just the standard idle is loading up the crankcase. As mentioned earlier I went one step leaner on the straight portion (J needle) and the bike ran/felt lean (but didn't foul).

Wrong premix for the race ed? 710 has a lower flashpoint than the 800 you're using, so it's better suited for a trailbike. That 800 you're using is for high revving racing 2 strokes. A bike will also foul easier on the 800 vs the 710.

My power valve is set at 1.5 turns.

I just put what they recommended in there and haven’t seen a good reason to change from the 800T. I would be really hesitant to change to a hotter plug. Your engine might be telling you something as is. Have you done a compression or leak-down test since the problem started? Adjusted your carb float height?

My power valve is 3/4 of a turn in from flush, and always run the bowl dry before putting it on the stand.

I'll be doing a compression test right away, but it'll be for a before and after of the RK Tek head that's waiting to go on. But I want to get the jetting ironed out before swapping heads.

I can swap back to the stock jetting and the bike runs fine. So I doubt there's an engine issue though. Stock jetting that runs mint here is the NOZJ needle #2 clip, with a 35 pilot and 165 main.

But I definitely like the Suzuki needles better for tractability.

okey , AJ jou got 300 , its weird because its needs leaner jetting than 250 , last weakend i was out with mine 250 , it was spot on with 40pj , NEDH 3 , mj170 around 10C,AS 1-1and half, 250m sl ,99+ E5 fuel with putoline mx5 oil 1:40 mix , plug is denso W24EMR-C .. my plug is nice brown . I am not a fan of the NOZ_ series needles , its got a wery rich of-ilde witch loads up the bike if you ride on the low rpm ..

Weird...maybe. I don’t really know. I’d like to max out the richness till it four strokes so I know the limit but haven’t gotten there yet with the Suzuki needles.

Maybe these differences are due to float height. Maybe AJ's is nice and low, which allows for the leaner than usual jetting, and maybe mine is too high.

Just to not change too much all at once, I've now just dropped my NEDW one clip to #2, and I'm still 38/168. If this ends up being the ticket, I'm going to then confirm my float height again. If it's within spec, I'll then put my RK Tek head on, put the needle back to #3, put a 170 main in there, and see how that goes.

I'll be able to get out on Saturday, to see how these changes went. I want to make sure I get out in similar temps to when the plug fouled.

I did change my float height to as close to 7mm as I could get, IIRC. It didn’t do much to my jetting, but it did keep the fuel from spilling in my truck bed.

The RK Tek head looks rad. Almost pulled the trigger on one, and check the site every so often as a teaser. I’m interested in how much your compression increases.

Got out for a ride today. I didn't foul a plug, but the bike ran rich/sputtered at anything less than 2.5 turns out on the air screw. 3-3.25 turns is where it ran best. The bike wouldn't even stay running at 2 turns out.

So it looks like in my situation, the stock 35 pilot is the ticket with the NEDW needle.

This is a 250RR at 640m/2100' ASL, and - 3*C
