2018 Xtrainer mileage update

Postby njbill » Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:17 am

I have about 35 hours and 600 miles on my 2018 XT. It has run better than anticipated from day 1, which was snowing, to my last ride @ 94F and high humidity. I did the carb vent hose mod - wrapped up and around - and I think the engine is broken-in. My last ride was 48.5 miles of tight single track and some two-track forest service roads to connect trails. There was even some deep sand, which I've heard zaps mileage. I used 1.55 gallons of 92 octane fuel (with ethanol) for that 48.5 miles. That yields 32 mpg; a figure I am very happy with. :D YMMV

Interesting. On my 2016 Xtrainer with Lectron carb and stock 2.2 gallon tank I've ridden as far as 79 miles without hitting reserve in terrain with similar description to yours. Last week I rode 66 miles with elevations gains (and drops) of 5000' and 4000' with peak elevation of 10,5000'. At the end I looked into my tank with an LED flashlight, swished the fuel around, and still couldn't see the top of the fuel petcock tower under the fuel.

Not sure how that works out in MPG, but the fuel economy of this setup impresses the hell out of me. Love this bike!
