plastic idle screw... grey stuff

Postby little_wing » Sat Mar 07, 2020 3:48 pm

so I took my carb apart to clean it. the idle screw is plastic ( I know its normal) on the threads there is some type of sealant. kinda looks like a bolt you get in a package that already has threadlock applied.
it was light grey in color. I am guessing its to prevent vacuum/air leaks through the threads on the air screw???
I was thinking to redo it with plumbers tape but it just gets torn up when turning the screw in.
I highly don't think it was threadlock as how would you adjust your idle if the screw was threadlocked….
any ideas??????

Maybe anti-sieze? I swapped mine for an extended screw so i could change it while on the bike with just my hand. I don't put anything on the threads.
