JD Jetting Air Mixture Screw

I Just received a new JD air screw with the thumb piece for easy adjusting but it doesn't seem to screw in easily. My original air screw moves smoothly so it seems odd that the JD screw isn't threading in just as easy as the stock screw. Has anyone experienced the same situation? I hate to use too much force in fear or messing up the threads in the carb body.
