Hi All,

Interested to hear what sort of fuel range you are getting from your new 300? There seems to be a few mixed reports, some people scarcely getting 70km from a tank, while others getting well over 100km.

I am currently acheiving 7-8km/litre and this is being cautious on the throttle. I suspect mine is probably running a little rich judging by the plug colour - but then others are saying the jetting is perfect from stock on their bikes?

Stock jetting in mine is:
N2ZJ
Main: 165
Pilot: 35
Riding condtions: 30 degrees celcius, 0-300m elevation

48 miles today, mix of single, dual and sand roads. Did not hit reserve but did not measure how much fuel is left. Bike is jetted rich for colder weather.

My fuel range was not what I expected either, I checked the floats and they were at the correct height so I then moved them down a little and that helped with mileage. That's a lot of gas drooling out of the overflow.

Just an update, tried the Suzuki NECJ needle and am now getting pretty much double the mileage. It is a little bit lean at idle but very smooth the whole way through and no longer has the off idle stutter when cruising along... very happy!

i'm jetted for cold weather currently, and so far my max mileage has been about 38 miles on tank. Now, this might be due to the fact I have been riding in some sand, but i have smelled quite a bit of fuel when doing steep rough down hills. Thinking i might need to lower the float height a touch? I'm hoping to get out and ride a little further this weekend on some single track, no sand. maybe i can get to 50 miles? I have to think about how hard i'm twisting the throttle when I am way out from the truck now compared to the 4Ts i road before. Other than that, this bike is gangster! Love it.

Last weekend I did 35 miles at race pace and had about 1.5 inches left in the tank. No way I would have made another lap (7miles). I'm thinking 38 miles is the limit. I had some gas dribble out the overflow the week before so I made several adjustments to the float until it was well below horizontal with the carb base. Bike ran fine and no noticable overflow.....so 38 miles means I'll need a splash at some events to finish. I read on another thread where it was suggested that the gas tank vent check valve can seat and push the Carb intake valve open......? I've pulled the vent check to find out, but I'm not sold on that as a fix yet.

Probably order an IMS tank tomorrow to be safe. I just didn't want to go that route.

Just got my Beta and I love it but I only got 22 miles this weekend and I was completely dry. I suspect I'm dumping a lot of fuel. How do I know where to set the float?

Level or slightly lower (1mm) when needle just closes (does not compress spring).

Yesterday I rode a harescramble in south NJ, super dry and dusty with lots of deep sand and powder like silty dirt. It was really bad in a lot of spots and tough to even see. Four eight mile laps. I had recently jetted the bike different with a NECJ#3, 38P, 162 main. The bike ran awesome and was actually a little easier to ride on and off the pipe in the woods as it was smoother. After the race I was shocked at the fuel I had left, tonight I will drain and measure it but its over the side pods of the tank, not even close to running out. I always thought the stock jetting was fine and it is, but this is better. Address the float height and try this I'm sure it will help.
