Mystery noise while engine off... 17' 300 RR RE

I keep hearing a weird noise that has me scratching my head. First off, the engine is off and I typically hear it in the shop while working on the bike.

It sounds like a cell phone on vibrate with a second or two of vibration sound. I thought I was just hearing my phone or my tablet but today while loading the bikes my riding partner says your bike is making a noise. Like a cell phone vibrator I say and he's like bingo. Heard it again later after washing the bike and doing my brake cleaner\chain lube routine.

Doesn't seem to hurt anything that I know of, but fairly curious what in the hell it is...

Gas tank cap.
Sounds like a failed silent fart.
Check its rubber flange and next time you work near the bike, unfasten partially the cap.

Yes correct.
On some bikes that one way breather valve in the hose is a bit dicky.

Hmmm, I just got a 17 300 RE this weekend and noticed the same noise.

I will check my cap and hose now. Is it just "venting" to let air in?

Haha! Mine does the same thing. My son noticed it first and I thought he was hearing things, then I heard it. I'm going to keep this a secret and tell him it's the computer analyzing ambient conditions or some such sh!t.

I just got just to hearing the noise I guess. Lately the 300rr has been getting some leaked fuel on the top of of my tank. Yesterday I inspected the flange on the cap and it looks deformed or misaligned. Not sure really. Should this flange be uniformed around the whole of the cap, because mine has an off center aspect to it. The offset explains the leaking fuel. Any ideas?
