GPS

Postby ks9mm » Sun Mar 29, 2015 6:50 pm

so finally lost my 10 year old GPS that i was using to navigate local maze of trails. not a must have.. but certainly very nice to have.

anyone uses something that they can recommend? I am looking at trailtech voyager.. but really not sure how it would work with my Scotts (over the bar mount)

main requirement is to be able to generate, export and import GPX files so off road trails can be followed. and that I can find my way back to the base. good reception in the woods. street map is not needed at all. but being able to stand up to rigors of riding and ability to use (see) when riding.

if anyone has picture of how Voyager looks like on Beta RS would be awesome.

thanks!

I usually move my Garmin Zumo from the road bike to the dirt bike. But it's overkill for what you're looking for.

I also have a Garmin eTrex 20 http://www.campmor.com/Product___61455 for backup. It might be all you need.

this is what I got for now.. cheap route. will try to test is in the woods this week.

Glenn suggested Motion X GPS app on iPhone 5. seems to be working OK. case is waterproof and touch screen works.

I tried importing my old GPX files from Garmin and it seems to work fine.

big question now is battery life...

Has anybody figured out the fix for the inconsistent speedo pickup?
