Horn wire and map switch

Postby Racemx904 » Thu Jan 26, 2017 2:51 pm

Looks the the horn wire is wired together near the coil.....grey and grey/black

I want to remove the map switch... which is the "hot" way with no switch?

this depends on which bike you have.
the 250rr comes in hot mode if you unplug the switch or if you don't have the switch factory..
if you have the 300rr it comes in soft mode if you don't have the switch or if you unplug the switch. so if you want the 300rr in hot mode then you will need to ground the wire I believe.
the 4 strokes I am not sure about as I don't have one

4strokes are the same as the 300rr
Come on the soft map as long as they have the dual map CDI of course.

Okay, I just put the OEM 300 kit on my 250rr. It came with a new cdi.

First, what does the horn have to do with the map?
Second, how do I know if this cdi has dual map?
Third, what wire needs to be grounded?

Horn has nothing to do with the map switch.... I'm trying to hook up my horn that PO didn't have hooked up....

the map switch I'm removing to make room for another kill button to loose the factory switch.....

I have a 350rr.....

so it comes in "soft" mode is what I read.... So I don't just connect the wires together?

Thank you guys

Got it,
Does your map switch un plug from the harness? If so, you can just use a continuity tester to see if it's just an on/off switch. If so, then yes, you can just twist them together and get the same result.

I have no idea about the map switch, just trying to help...

Hiya guys I'm trying to wire in the horn but confused as to which wires I need to touch together to make the horn sound.

There is a six pin that goes to the left hand switch block. Among the wires for the kill switch and headlight beam selector, there is a grey wire, which I believe to be for the horn.

However, touching this to the black wire doesn't seem to do anything. I have the horn bolted directly to the frame so could that be a problem as it will be grounded.

I am gonna try to test the horn to the battery tomorrow, I just need to find an effective way of sticking the wires to the battery without the need to have an extra pair of hands.
