clock resets to 12:00

Postby rivs » Fri Mar 10, 2017 4:39 am

Rearly odd issue. On key off the time often resets to 12:00. It actually happens instantly on key off. Have put in new clock battery and even tried a brand new dash, all with same results. Even more confusing is that it does not happen every time.
I have a Trail Tech uprated charging system and have discussed this with them. It is not something they have heard of, and as on key off that sort of indicates not a charge issue. But am thinking I may take off for a while to at least eliminate from the equation.
My supplying dealer are being most helpful, but it's not an issue they have heard of either.
It's driving me mad so any ideas much appreciated.

I have the same problem on my 2017 XTrainer. There is no key on this bike; just hit the start button to get everything going. Everything stops when the stop button is hit. I always have to reset to the correct the time-of-day from the 12:00 that appears after a shutdown and restart cycle; even for cycle of as little as a minute. I have changed the speedo/clock battery; old one was only putting out 2.85 V. However, even with the new one in with a full 3 V the problem persists. It's very strange and extremely annoying.

I have spoken with TrailTech who make the clocks for Beta. They recommend a permanent 12v supply as the time resets when it gets a voltage spike on start up.

Definitely easy for them to say, but not necessarily easy for us riders to do. They should produce and provide a conversion kit for this. Could you please share contact info for TrailTech?

The clock on my 2018 XT just started doing this yesterday. I guess the stock battery is dead.
