I wonder if their electrical engineers came from Fiat :)

Probably came from Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. (British supplier of electrical components)

Have to redo it, kill switch crapped out. Probably another damaged wire in that mess...

Damn! Mine failed yesterday, symptoms just prior to the ground bundle completely breaking loose at the junction was similar to what was described-no kill switch, computer display going haywire, intermittent e-start. Bike is a 2017 300rr.

Luckily I was just back behind my house on my practice loop and not up in the hills. This kind of failure is just stupid.

Anyone out there know of any other likely failure points in the wiring harness? I'm thinking I am going to unravel the entire rat's nest and get rid of all the unnecessary schyte...

The good news is that since I fixed it properly I had no more problems (touching a big piece of wood!).
Seems that junction is the only weak spot in the harness.

I don’t think there’s an easy way to avoid it. That harness is just a bad design.

Not to sound like a dick but haven’t had any problems for two years (220 hours) no harness mods. I should probably inspect mine soon.

On my 2018- the harness does along the left side of the headstock, along with the cables.
I’ll bet there is still the big splice, hopefully they left enough slack to not cause issues too quickly. But I’ve seen similar things happen for many years on lots of different bikes. That is always a weak point- wires having to bend constantly.
