Brighter tail light bulb - 2018 Xtrainer

Postby njbill » Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:09 am

Yesterday, two of us got caught out as the sun went down. As we rode back to the truck, it got dark so we rode the street for a 3 mile shortcut. My partner was behind me. He said my tail light was "as bright as a single firefly." Is there a replacement bulb - maybe LED - that is brighter?

Thanks!

i use a Acerbis X LED tail light

I am pretty sure it is brighter than stock when running but a lot brighter when braking... a lot more noticeable. also has a white led w/ clear lens for license plate built in.
it won't plug and play but the stock beta connector is junk anyway.
I used these type of connectors:

you can also buy a generic LED taillight(light unit itself, no plastic/fender mount) and splice into the system/existing taillight wires for added lighting.
I have one of these for when I take off my street legal stuff but still want riders behind me to know I am braking or to signal them: I have it wired to only function when braking(no running light). This one is not that bright but you can google and find brighter/bigger.

I have some notes on wiring the x light if needed.

you can also splice the brake light with the running light for a brighter light 24/7...but lose the brake activated brighter light. This can work if you aren't plated and wont cost you any money.
