Cooked CDI

Postby nigelbates » Sat Mar 09, 2019 2:23 pm

Has anyone ever cooked a CDI on their RR? My 2017 300 racing stopped today it has no spark. Checked all the usual couldn't find a fault. We had 5 betas between us so swapped parts turns out my CDI is faulty !!! Any idea why it's done that? Put a known good one on my bike it runs well put my cdi on another bike no spark. I'm concerned it's not the root cause of the problem though and if I fit a new one it will just cook that one too $$$

Thanks

Is the coolant thermostat/temp regulator just above it leaking anything on it?

On my bike it's in the air box under the battery it looked ok bit dirty but nothing you wouldn't expect.

Could be a faulty ground. Any other odd happenings on the machine? Is the voltage regulator working at 14 volts? Horn, starter or other problems?

The earth on the coil was not very nice, very muddy and not a tight fit. Didn't notice until I stripped all the wiring back to check connectors. Everything else check out fine as far as I can tell.
