dash, serviceable?

Postby Cruiser » Tue Nov 05, 2019 12:21 pm

Ok,, so Ive had the moisture in the dash or speedo unit. My issue now is dust. Ran the Shenandoah 500 a few weeks ago. Saturday on my old bike and Sunday on my 16 350rr. Went out this Sunday and kept trying to wipe off the speedo lens. but the dude is on the inside. Can this unit be opened up to clean??

Yes it can. Few Cross-head screws and it comes apart. Clean it and put a very light smear of silicon grease on the o-ring before reassemble.

Good news and bad news, came apart ok, cleaned off, new battery in and all zeroed out. no ART miles etc. also side buttons when pushed just make screen fade out. I guess I'm going to need a new speedo soon.

I'll take the old one if you're going to pitch it. I broke the housing to mine but the electronics still work. It's held together with tape and silicone.

The speedo of my 2019 300 RR is doing some weird things, sometimes when I start the bike the time changes, +/- ~1 hour ..

I have a wristwatch on the handlebar as I can not trust the speedo time anymore, is this happening to all models ?
Is there a solution or do we know the reason ? I suspect some voltage drop / spike during startup ... maybe adding some filter capacitors could help.

Regards.
