Grip heaters

Postby Engstrom » Sun Dec 15, 2019 6:43 pm

OK I bought some symatic grip heaters. Ran a negative wire to battery adn tapped into the "brwon" wire on head light. All worked fine

Then I bought this and it works great. Problem is the motominded guys strongly recommended I run a separate power wire with fuse for the grip heaters. So I bought a little wire assembly at napa with a 20 fuse.

I did just than then go to start the bike and not even a click. My earthx battery just apparently shut off. Sure enough the fuse was toast.
What did I do wrong?

What size fuse blew? If it was less than 20amps, then thats probably why they recommended running a separate line. Might be a good idea to disconnect from the headlight and take it all the way back to battery positive

I went down to napa and bought one of those shire wire lines with a 20 amp fuse in it. So the negative wire and the power wire is all connected to the batterys terminals. That fuse on the wire is what keeps lowing now. I am like scratching my head.

Does the fuse blow right away or does it take some time? Do you have a multimeter to check the resistance of each grip heater?
