Cooked battery

Postby Gman2528 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 12:40 pm

Can anyone help with this please? I free wheeled down a diet track and when I hit the e start there was nothing. No relay click and lots of smoke under the seat which was my li-pol battery frying itself. Bike bumped started so I have 2 questions. First question - what caused the battery to fry? The relay tested fine today and the fuse hadn't blown. Second question - will the oil injection work without a battery as the low level warning light stayed on so I didn't take the chance and ride it home. Any help gratefully received as this is my first beta (2019 300 rr, non racing model).

Was this an OEM battery as Lithium polymer batteries have no place in automotive applications.

Only Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4) chemistry is safe with automotive charge and discharge rates. Other chemistry types can easily catch fire if charged or discharged quickly.
