Speed sensor troubleshooting

Postby ks9mm » Sat May 02, 2015 5:06 pm

Hi all,

8 miles in to the ride, ODOMETER quit working. It seems that wheel rotation does not trigger pickup any longer.

What's the best way to troubleshoot it! Could I need to replace magnet? Pickup sensor?

2014 300rr. 44 hours. 650 or so miles.

Thanks!

Most likely it's the wires leading down to the pick up.
Check the magnet is still there.
Check the connector into the instrument.

Where the wire connects behind the headlight you will see the connection is bad. Get some needle nose pliers and twist the connectors a bit after taking it apart and it will keep tension on it and stop the problem.
